Re-creations of well-loved movies can definitely flop, which means that lead cast Emma Watson and Dan Stevens has a lot of expectations to meet. Fortunately, after the release of the full-length trailer of the live-action version of the 1991 animated classic "Beauty and The Beast", it has garnered over 127.6 million views within 24 hours and has been building up excitement ever since.
From Belle's iconic yellow dress to the original soundtrack, the expectation is high for the March 17 release. After the release of the trailer, several questions have been raised with concerns about the plot of the "Beauty and The Beast's" live adaptation.
Is there something in the remake that has not been seen before?
According to Newseveryday, Dan Stevens was asked by the fans if something was changed or added in the remake of "Beauty and The Beast", although his answers could be labeled as spoilers, he still answered it honestly. He revealed that the viewers will be given the chance to see the past of the Beast and understand further why he is how he is in the story. "I suppose we see a little bit of his backstory. We learn a little bit more about this vain, spoiled, rich kid, son of a billionaire who treats women like objects and lives in a luxury tower" Stevens said in the interview.
Thank you to our #BeautyAndTheBeast fans worldwide for a record-breaking 127.6 million views on our new trailer in 24 hours!
As for Belle, like Dan Steven's character, there will also be a sneak peak to the character's backstory. In the 1991 original movie of "Beauty and The Beast", there was never that much information about her in the beginning of the story except about her admiration for books. So in the adaptation, they created a new backstory for her and made her into an inventor like her father in the original animated film. Watson said that she had invented a kind of washing machine, so that instead of doing laundry, she could just sit comfortably and use the time to read.
Meanwhile, according to Gamenguide, screenwriters Stephen Chbosky and Evan Spiliotopoulos are still exploring more of the character of Belle, but what's plausible as of the moment is that we get to know Belle and the Beast on a more personal level unlike in the original animated film of "Beauty and The Beast" which only spans around 85 minutes.
