Glenn Close To Head Nova Corps In Guardians of the Galaxy? [RUMOR]

Guardians of the Galaxy is shaping up to be one of the most unique Marvel features yet. The bizarre space adventure sees Marvel Studios going places audiences have not seen before. Now, Guardians' already stellar cast just reportedly added a six-time Oscar nominee.

According to Deadline, Glenn Close (Fatal Attraction) will play the head of Nova Corps. In the comics Nova is an intergalactic police force. Her role is being described as a Nick Fury type character for the Guardians films.

Reports of Close joining the film come as rumors of John C. Reilly taking on the picture begin to heat up. Hitflix reported earlier this month that an offer has gone out to Reilly to play Rhomann Dey.

Dey would reportedly answer to Close's character and serve as a sort of Agent Coulson type role in the film. Reports also peg Reilly's character as having a sidekick. Marvel is reportedly looking at actors as varied as Hugh Laurie, Alan Rickman and Ken Watanabe for the part.

The actors would be joining a cast which already features Chris Pratt (Zero Dark Thirty), Zoe Saldana (Star Trek), David Bautista (The Man with the Iron Fists), Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead) and Lee Pace (The Fall).

Pratt will lead the ensemble cast as an American pilot who ends up living in space with a group of rogue alien bounty hunters. The thrust of the plot sees the group go on the run from two villains played by Rooker and Pace.

Marvel is touting the film as a major picture for its second phase of films. The movie sees the studio take a chance on a big space epic lacking in well known superheroes like Thor and Iron Man. Guardians will reportedly bridge the gap between Avengers One and Avengers Two.

Guardians will be directed by James Gunn. Gunn's previous work includes Super, Slither and The Specials. His work has been praised for its dark humor and gory horror elements. Gunn has reported that he's wanted to make a Guardians movie since he was nine years old.
