Pirates of The Caribbean 5 Set For Late 2013 Start: Kon-Tiki Directors Make The Cut

Disney has finally greenlighted the upcoming addition in the illustrious Pirates of the Caribbean series – Pirates of The Caribbean 5. What’s more, the company has also found the right set of directors to lead the movie – Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg of the Kon-Tiki team.

According to a report from Deadline, Disney, actor Johnny Depp and producer Jerry Bruckheimer have all agreed to bring in the team of Sandberg and Ronning to direct the new Pirates movie.

It has also been stated that an official deal is about to be made that will see the pair coming aboard to prepare the film for a late 2013 or early 2014 start.

The pair was responsible for directing the famous Norwegian historical film about the 1947 Kon-Tiki expedition. The movie went on to be a huge success, eventually landing a Foreign Language Oscar nomination.

Deadline states that the film surely made them worth more to Disney as it proved that they know how make use of water while shooting.

The pair also edged past the likes of Fredrik Bond (The Necessary Death Of Charlie Countryman) and Rupert Sanders (Snow White and The Huntsman) in bagging the next Pirates film.
