Nick Gordon, the ex-boyfriend of Bobbi Kristina Brown was ordered to pay $36 million by Fulton County Superior Court Judge T. Jackson Bedford, after months of ignoring a civil lawsuit filed by her family. Both the Houston relatives and later the Browns, and the court-chosen custodian for her estate filed a civil suit accusing Gordon of playing a role in her death by giving her a "toxic cocktail."
The lawsuit alleged him of assault, battery, deliberate infliction of emotional suffering and getting money from Bobbi Kristina's bank account to his own without permission as grounds. He was deemed lawfully accountable for her wrongful demise, cited by USA TODAY. In September, Gordon was judged "legally responsible" for Bobbi Kristina's death after he repeatedly failed to show up in court.
The Way Bobbi Kristina Died Is Disturbingly Similar To The Way Her Mother Died
ABC News said that Brown 22, the daughter of singer superstars Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, was found face-down and unresponsive in a bathtub in her suburban Atlanta townhome in January 2015. Gordon, who also resided there, and a friend were listed on the law enforcement agency report as being in the home when investigators had gotten there. Bobbi Kristina passed away in July 2015, six months after the heartbreaking incident.
Her passing was disconcertingly like to the way her mother expired three years earlier and drew worldwide headlines and frenzied attention of the tabloids. She is buried at a cemetery in New Jersey next to her mother.
Nick Gordon's Attorneys Begged To Differ On The Allegations
Nick Gordon was not in court Thursday and did not have a counselor in the civil case, but his criminal defense attorneys, Joe Habachy and Jose Baez, had said in August 2015 that the accusations were unfounded. They also said that Gordon is "brokenhearted" and called the suit a "fabricated attack" on their client.
