While iCloud is indeed a storage used to backup necessary data and information, it has been all over the news today that Apple is secretly logging all calls and FaceTime history of iPhone users without them knowing it at all. Many of the iPhone enthusiasts are affected and worried about the issue as this concerns their privacy and data.
The news came out when Elcomsoft, a Russian provider of iPhone hacking tools, claimed that all call logs as far as four months are automatically being synced real-time in iPhone's iCloud backup.
According to Vladimir Katalov, CEO of Elcomsoft, all iPhone users should be aware that their communication logs are being sent directly to Apple without their clear permission. He also added that even if the backups are disabled; the call history will still be registered to iCloud, as written in the article of Forbes.

And not just that, FaceTime calls are being logged to iCloud as well as confirmed by Elcomsoft. Even the incoming missed calls from apps like Skype, Viber, and WhatsApp are also uploaded. They also believe that the syncing of both Facetime and call logs goes back to at least iOS 8.2 released last March 2015.
In response to this, Apple issued a statement to iMore, "We offer call history syncing as a convenience to our customers so that they can return calls from any of their devices". In addition to this, they also pointed out that they are committed to protecting their customer's data and information, hence, the requirement of username and password. They also suggested choosing strong passwords and even using two-factor authentication to highly secure vital information.
Until Apple released a solution to this issue, users may opt to switch off their iCloud drive or obtain a two-factor authentication so that possible hackers might not be able to access your data storage.
