The much-loved manga series "Fullmetal Alchemist" has just released a 30-second trailer for its upcoming live-action movie. The teaser trailer, which has no English subtitles, shows actor Ryosuke Yamada in the role of Edward Elric.
The manga series "Fullmetal Alchemist" has already produced several adaptations beyond the manga. Two anime series, "Fullmetal Alchemist" and "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood" were aired, plus video games, novels and now a live-action movie based on the story of Edward and Alphonse Elric.
The movie adaptation of "Fullmetal Alchemist" will be directed by Fumihiko Sori, who has won a Japanese Academy Awards in his debut film "Ping Pong". Also starring in the live action film are Tsubasa Honda as Winry Rockbell and Dean Fujioka as Roy Mustang.
"Fullmetal Alchemist" is just the latest of manga series that have been adapted to live-action films. Fans are now wondering if the future movie will fare better than "Attack on Titan" which came to life on screen in 2015. "Attack on Titan" or "Shingeki No Kyojin" received some criticism regarding its interpretation of the manga, stating that it did not follow the original source.
Fans of "Fullmetal Alchemist" are afraid that the live-action adaptation might suffer the same fate as "Attack on Titan", and several discussion forums are comparing the two. But fans can be reassured as Director Fumihiko Sori ensures them that have adapted a style that is very close to the original manga, reports Movie News Guide.
He went on to give several details about the live-action adaptation of "Fullmetal Alchemist". The cultural background of the film will be European but the entire cast is composed of Japanese actors. The film was filmed both in Japan and Italy and is set to be released in Japan by 2017.
