Carrie Fisher divulged that while filming "Star Wars," she and co-star Harrison Ford hit it off and maintained an intense affair for exactly three months. At that time, the actress was only 19 while Ford was 33.
Carrie Fisher and Ford starred in the original "Star Wars" movie and filming was ongoing in 1976 when they became romantically involved. Ford was already married to Mary Marquardt and rearing two children when he took the role as Han Solo, thus the tryst was an illicit one.
Rumors were swirling in the past and Carrie Fisher said she acted modestly so all the talks naturally died down. Then again, another co-star in "Star Wars," Mark Hamill, nearly discovered her affair with Ford.
Daily Mail UK reported that there was a time when Hamill visited Ford in his apartment and he found Carrie Fisher there. To avoid suspicion, Ford took the actress' hands and said: "We're engaged." That trick worked because Hamill really took everything as a joke.
Since then, Carrie Fisher managed to keep the secret for 40 long years. The cat was only let out of the bag when she wrote her released the book entitled "The Princess Diarist."
The book is a tell-all piece that was written after Carrie Fisher found her diaries, where she documented things that happened while she was filming "Star Wars" in 1976.
One of the most quoted lines in her book was like an expression of regret. Carrie Fisher wrote, "My affair with Harrison was a very long one-night stand. I was relieved when it ended. I didn't approve of myself."
Clearly, Carrie Fisher, who was just a teener back then, did not like what she had gotten into. But she stressed at one point that she liked Ford because he was so handsome and very kind as well.
Meanwhile, Carrie Fisher and Ford got reunited last year at the Comic-Con. The two were guests for the "Star Wars" event at the Hall H in San Diego. It can be noted that the old flame even kissed (on the lips) at the convention!
