Sniper Elite V2 For Wii U Missing Online Co-Op

The Wii U version of Rebellion Developments' World War 2 tactical shooter Sniper Elite V2 is missing the online co-op mode, according to users.

According to many Twitter and MiiVerse users who own the game, the title does not support competitive multiplayer and its makers apparently has no plans to bring the DLC to Nintendo's platform, which makes the Wii U version of the game almost entirely an offline affair, NintendoLife reports.

"We interviewed Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley about the game earlier this year, during which he did confirm that there were no DLC plans at that point; a familiar refrain with some Wii U releases. The absence of the online co-op missions are an unexpected blow, however, baking the title down to a single player-only game," the report states.

Sniper Elite V2 is slated for a European release this month and this news of its omission of cooperative play comes as a surprise to the fans given the fact that the original PS3 and Xbox 360 editions of the game featured three online co-op modes.  The absence of co-op mode is surprising as it's already proven that Wii U can handle it rather well and that the console has major ports from many publishers such as Ubisoft, Activision and Criterion featuring substantial online play.

The game, published by 505 Games, was announced for Wii U in February and will have an official U.K. release in Spring 2013. The creators have already confirmed the next instalment of the game, Sniper Elite 3 for current and next-gen platforms. The game will hit Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and next-gen consoles in 2014.
