The Star Wars Universe is abuzz once again. And it's not because of the upcoming Star Wars installment Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, set to be released on Dec. 16 of this year. It involves two of the original cast members of Star Wars: Episode One: Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford.
The on-screen romance between Princess Leia and Han Solo has apparently continued off- screen as well. Carrie Fisher finally comes clean of her three-month affair with Harrison Ford after years of hinting that they may have had a romantic fling in the past.
In an exclusive interview with People magazine, the 60-year old star confirmed what every die-hard Star Wars fan have always wished for: that they indeed had a romantic relationship. Excerpts from Carrie Fisher's forthcoming book, The Princess Diarist, that were made available to People describes the relationship between the two stars.
"It was so intense," she said. "It was Han and Leia during the week, and Carrie (Fisher) and Harrison (Ford) during the weekend."
Their affair happened while filming the first Star Wars movie at Elstree studios in Hertforshire in 1976. She also revealed how insecure she felt during that time.
"I looked over at Harrison (Ford). A hero's face-a few strands of hair fell over his noble, slightly furrowed brow. How could you ask such a shining specimen of a man to be satisfied with the likes of me?"
She says that the first night the two of them spent together was after a birthday party for Star Wars director George Lucas. Carrie Fisher was 19, while Harrison Ford was 33 at that time and married to his college sweetheart Mary Marquardt with two children. She does stressed, however, that she has nothing to do with Harrison Ford and Marquardt's marriage falling apart.
When filming for Star Wars ended, their romance ended as well. She fondly recalls of the time they spent together.
"I was so inexperienced, but I trusted something about him," she says. "He was kind."
And on the reason why she's only coming clean now after all these years,
"It's been 40 years! I didn't say anything to anybody for years but it's not like anyone's deeply affected by it anymore."
Now that Carrie Fisher has finally confirmed her affair with Harrison Ford, the question that everyone wants to ask is: Did she wore the Princess Leia Slave costume?
