There is no confirmation yet regarding the official release of "Iron Man 4" in the near future. However, many speculations had already surfaced that lead actor Robert Downey Jr. is not too keen on reprising his role.
Fans are quite bothered that their favorite genius billionaire playboy superhero has not said yes to one more film under the "Iron Man" franchise. He even said in a report by Australian Network News, "I don't think that's in the cards. In a way, it's 'Cap 3' but for me, it's like my little 'Iron Man 4' and then it's back to the thing we all recognize," when asked about a possible "Iron Man 4" in the very near future.
But fret not, there might still be a glimmer of hope for fans. Digital Spy reported that Robert Downey Jr. will reprise his role as Tony Stark in "Iron Man 4" only if his pal Mel Gibson will direct it. Mel Gibson who is still currently enjoying the success of his most recent highly-acclaimed war movie, "Hacksaw Ridge" has not really shut down the idea of directing Marvel's "Iron Man 4." The award-winning actor turned director said, "It might be fun. You'd have to figure out a way to be different with that."
How likely could it be for Mel Gibson to direct "Iron Man 4?" DC surely is not too keen with the "Passion of the Christ" director after calling the recent flick "Batman vs. Superman" a "piece of s**t." So with regards to directing a Marvel flick, he probably already won some brownie points with the studio.
He has the capability of directing awesome movies so "Iron Man 4" will definitely be in good hands should Mel Gibson take on the project. Besides, it might be cool to see him and his long-time buddy Robert Downey Jr. working side by side.
