"Teen Wolf" jumpstarted its return to the small screens with a suspense-filled premiere that introduced mysterious new villains including Stiles' disappearance. Latest spoiler news hint of the exciting events in the MTV show's upcoming episode, while the series' executive producer commented on the significance of Stiles and Lydia's bond.
Avid fans of the "Teen Wolf" pair Stiles (Dylan O'Brien) and Lydia (Holland Roden) were both ecstatic and heartbroken over the MTV show's Season 6 premiere. Aired on Nov. 15, Tuesday, Stiles finally professed his love for Lydia just before he was snatched by the mysterious Ghost Riders.
Doomed to live a life among the forgotten, Stiles' existence was wiped away by the said villains. However, his connection with Lydia will help the banshee to remember that she is missing someone important in her life. Scott (Tyler Posey) and Malia (Shelley Hennig) will also come to the same realization.
The close bond between Stiles and Lydia was highlighted by "Teen Wolf" showrunner Jeff Davis as one of the reasons why she sensed the said character's absence first. In an interview with TVLine, the executive producer commented on how both saved each other lives in previous seasons, as well as their special feelings for one another. Despite moments when Stiles and Lydia became antagonistic to one another, the two eventually became close friends.
Introducing a romantic storyline between the two characters was something that writers debated on. However, the showrunner and his writing team decided to push for the said story arc given what feels like a "natural" progression of Stiles and Lydia's relationship, according to Davis.
In other news, "Teen Wolf" Season 6 episode 2 will feature Scott, Lydia and Malia's struggles to find their missing memories about Stiles, according to episode spoilers posted on Spoilers Guide. The legend of the Ghost Riders and their Wild Hunt will also shed some light on the mystery.
Titled "Superposition," the said episode will also unveil a potential link between Corey's (Michael Johnston) abilities and the Ghost Rider's infamous hunt. Meanwhile, another member of Scott's team may soon disappear after being sighted by the mysterious villains.
