Facebook launched its one-on-one encrypted messaging feature for Facebook Messenger after the company completes the testing phase. The new feature is called Secret Conversations.
The new feature is available now for all Android and iOS users, according to Giz Bot. Secret Conversations allows Facebook users to send and receive secret conversations, as the name suggests. These messages under Secret Conversations can be set to "self-destruct," the source added.
Sensitive messages or private messages will be safe as Secret Conversation limits chats to a select number of people that a user specifies. The cons of the this feature is it is not enabled by default and even conversations.
As of now, this feature is only available in the Messenger app on iOS and Android. Expect this new feature won't appear on Facebook chat or messenger fo desktops.
How To Send Message via Facebook Secret Conversations
As mentioned earlier, this feature is only available on iOS and Android. So the first step is, update the Facebook Messenger app on the iOS or Android phone. After updating, open the app then tap the "compose message" icon located in the top right of the screen.
Since Facebook Messenger is already updated, you should now see a list of your contacts, then in the top right of the screen, there should be an icon for "Secret." Just tap this icon to start a secret conversation, and select friends you want to join in this conversation.
Make Phone The Default Device
Just like other apps, Facebook Secret Conversations will also ask the user if he wants to set his phone as a default device. There's no need to worry that your conversation or activity will be posted on the social media.
Making your phone as default means that the conversation won't show up on any other phones or tablets you've linked to your Facebook account. So just hit "Make Default" option to continue.
After the aforementioned steps done, you are now allowed to send messages to your friends whom you chose to join the conversation. The conversation will encrypted end-to-end, this means it is safe. If you want to know more, visit Facebook Help Center.
