"The Last Guardian" is currently in the works by Sony in Japan. The project led by Fumito Ueda is set to launch on Dec. 6, 2016, after remaining in development for almost 10 years. A new action gameplay trailer of "The Last Guardian" was featured to appease fans who have waited so long for the game.
GameRant revealed that the trailer for "The Last Guardian" lasted 30 seconds, showcasing excellent visuals and the breathtaking environment. The game teased a lot of thrilling sequences and platforming as the child protagonist moves between various high terrains.
At one point, the potential enemy in "The Last Guardian" was featured, which appeared to be a darker version of Trico, the hero's beast-bird companion. In one scene, the creature slowly moves towards the hero, who cautiously backs away. Either the two are preparing for a grand showdown, or the protagonist may eventually win the beast over.
ComingSoon wrote that "The Last Guardian" is about a young boy who discovers a mysterious powerful creature which he forms a strong bond with. The two will work together to move through various locations and overcome untold dangers. The story of "The Last Guardian" is expected to be emotional and deep, although there will also be some moments of comedy.
The gameplay video of "The Last Guardian" also showed how the main character and Trico can work very well together in dealing with different challenges. The game obviously focuses much on action, although there is still a lot of mystery to uncover when it officially releases.
Team Ico and Fumito Ueda seemed to have deviated from the feel of their previous works by going for a more fast-paced approach. Fans will have to see if their new formula works well in "The Last Guardian."
In the meantime, the game developers are still working to address game glitches, as well as polish the features and graphics. "The Last Guardian" will launch on November 6 on PlayStation 4 in Japan and North America. Other locations around the world are also set to receive the game after the main launch. "The Last Guardian" is also said to be playable on the PS Pro when it arrives.
