In a report from CNN, the tennis superstar was greeted with a load cheer after being introduced as the number one seed. Last week, Murray took the number one spot from Novak Djokovic, the Serbian superstar who held the position for 223 weeks; 5th in the all-time record for the longest time being number one.

After having a slow start against Cilic, the Scottish superstar went on to win the match in dramatic fashion. The first five games of Cilic and Murray's match featured a couple of break-points, with the Scottish tennis star breaking twice to take a favorable 3-1 lead. Murray played on with extreme patience all throughout the match; However, he struggled to hold his serve.
Murray served four double faults and tallied 43 percent of his second service points. Cilic, on the other hand, struggled in the middle of the game and committed 17 unforced errors. The Croatian tennis player looked for a second break but was denied the advantage as Murray was able to to clinch the 46-minute opener.
In the second half, Cilic tried to impose his game and, despite doing his best, was not able to break through. The victory is Murray's 20th consecutive win, but Murray does not have the luxury of enjoying his accomplishment; Novak Djokovic is still the 4 time defending champion and would probably be back at number one if he wins the tournament.
