Tesla Model 3 is one of the highly anticipated Electric Vehicle to arrive next year. The chief executive officer of Tesla Motors, Elon Musk, confirmed that the Telsa Model 3 will have amazing features such as Autopilot and a 2170 battery cell that the company has been developing together with, Japan-based electronics manufacturer Panasonic.
According to a report from AutoWeek, Tesla Motors needs to have a mass production of cars so they can fulfil the Tesla Model 3 pre-orders. In order to do that Tesla acquired Germany's Grohmann Engineering to aid in the development of its automated manufacturing systems.
Tesla Motors is planning to manufacture 500,000 annually starting in 2018 right after the Tesla Model 3 becomes available. Several reports claim that the Telsa Model 3 is also the cheapest car in the company's roster priced at $35,000 before incentives. It can also have a peak performance of 215 miles of range per charge while continuing to adhere to the highest safety standards kept by Tesla.
If Tesla Motors main goal is to have a mass production, the company can't just focus on the cars; the company also needs to focus on the methods of production that is why they really need Germany's Grohmann Engineering. The upcoming Tesla Model 3 mass-production will begin in mid-2017 and Tesla is aiming for a mid-2018 launch.
According to a report from Engadget, the Tesla Model 3 will be made with the eight cameras and 12 sensors needed for fully autonomous self-driving capability. But before that, users have to order the feature or else the hardware would not be readily installed. If users don't pay up to $8,000 to activate autonomous features, the latest hardware will just be there doing nothing.
The Tesla Model 3 will not have any gearbox, engine and any exhaust systems. It will be more likely a super-computer on wheels. The upcoming Tesla Model 3 will surely be a totally different car compared to the previous cars made by the Tesla.
