Circling around on the hunt for a parking spot can become frustrating faster than the speed you are driving. Especially when someone pulls out of a spot right after you pass, so you circle back around the block to take it and someone pulls in right before you. That is the worst; parking space robbery.
Ease that road-rage, buddy. Goosfraba; take a deep breath and let go of the stress of finding a parking space. Your smartphone now assumes that responsibility for you, because with the use of an app called "Parkme," you can find available parking spaces in real-time. Parkme has been available on the web and for iOS for a while, and is now available to download on Android as well.
Sam Friedman, the co-founder and CEO of Parkme tells Techcrunch that the company waited to release the Parkme app for Android because they wanted to focus on one platform at a time, and make sure that the iOS version was functioning at its best first.
The Santa Monica based company has partners such as Amano McGann, one of the world's largest parking providers, and Fontinalis Partners, which was co-founded by Ford Executive Chairman William Clay Ford Jr.
That's kind of a big deal.
Parkme is worldwide, and assists if finding parking areas for over 28,000 locations in 32 countries, on all 7 continents. The app works with Google Maps API to show exactly where the parking areas are, and how to get there.
After opening the app or going to the parkme.com website, enter the city or more specific area you will need to find parking in. Select the date and how long you will be parked there, and voila! Parking space availability and rates, right before your eyes.
You can also filter and compare by rates to get the best price, street parking or garages, how long you plan to be parked there, or by occupancy so that you are positive you won't be pulling into a lot that's full, only to have to reverse back onto a one-way street. Payment types are also shown, so you will never be the guy with a credit card, trying to leave a lot that takes cash-only.
