With only six episodes to go before "Suits" Season 6 closes its chapter, fans can expect to see more of beloved characters in the show's upcoming Season 7. Showrunners, as well as the USA Network, have yet to provide teasers for the new season, however, storyline speculations hint of major changes in Harvey and Louis' lives.
"Suits" Season 6 is currently on its mid-season break, but the legal drama is expected to return to the small screens in early 2017. During the season's first half, viewers saw Mike's (Patrick J. Adams) challenges inside the prison and his eventual release. The law firm Pearson Specter Litt also experienced some major shake-ups that culminated with Jessica's (Gina Torres) decision to leave the company and pursue her own personal interests.
The upcoming back half of "Suits" Season 6 will feature a power struggle between Harvey (Gabriel Macht) and Louis (Rick Hoffman) as they try to figure what to do with the law firm. Donna (Sarah Rafferty) and Rachel (Meghan Markle) will play important roles in the office as both will help to keep Harvey and Louis on track instead of fighting each other.
Louis will also have his hands full given the developments in his personal life. The lawyer is set to take the next step in his and pregnant girlfriend Tara's (Carly Pope) relationship.
At this time, it is still unclear how these changes will impact the storyline for "Suits" Season 7. In an earlier interview with Deadline, showrunner Aaron Korsh made mention of what fans can expect from the USA Network show.
The second half of "Suits" Season 6 will serve as a catalyst for future events in the series, according to Korsh. Described as a "transitional phase in the show," the said season will provide showrunners with the opportunity to inject new plot lines that they could further explore in upcoming episodes. He added, "It's a transitional phase that will lead to a new paradigm for the show next year moving forward."
Given the events in the first half of Season 6, a few story speculations hinted of Harvey and Louis' continued rivalry with Harvey potentially gaining control of the firm. Louis may also have a hard time adjusting to family life and fatherhood. Meanwhile, it still unclear if the said story speculations will happen in the show.
