Sony India updated its site to offer more on the pricing details of the upcoming PlayStation 4, and according to it, the console along with a 250 GB hard disk drive will be up for sale for 399 Euros or about $513. The listing has now been removed.
And while the company understood the mistake it had made a bit later and went on to remove the listing from the page, a number of sites had already taken a note of the leak and went on to make the news public.
Interestingly, the latest slip-up from Sony India also validates previous rumors of the PlayStation 4 set to be retailed for $400 to $500 dollars (399 Euros roughly converts to $513). And although it is highly doubtful that next-gen console’s price in the United States would be that much, it would actually create a major backlash from fans if the prices remain the same.
However, a price for the console lower than $400 would be unusual, owing to the fact that Sony is still smarting from the backlash over selling the original PlayStation 3 for $600.
Sony is expected to come up with all the remaining details related to the PlayStation 4 at the forthcoming E3 2013. It is to be seen how Sony decides to price the console, especially with all kinds of rumors and speculation making its way before the real deal.
