The official Battlefield Twitter account has alerted fans that the next-gen Xbox reveal event could be the stage for some big announcements about the new installment in the series, Battlefield 4.
The tweet which said, "Big announcements are coming soon" ignited a firestorm of social media speculation that Battlefield 4 will be prominently featured in Microsoft's next-gen Xbox reveal.
If the publisher decides to make some big announcements, it would be the third major EA title making an appearance at the Xbox event. Earlier in the day, EA sports confirmed that its next-generation FIFA and UFC games will be shown off at the Microsoft event.
The next installment of the popular shooter franchise is yet to be announced for the next-gen gaming consoles; however, EA, on multiple occasions, has made it clear that the game is definitely coming to next-gen engines.
According to an earlier report from CVG, Electronics Arts has secured a partnership with Microsoft which will involve some form of exclusivity for EA titles on the next Xbox. However, the sources were unsure of what EA would exhibit at the event or what the terms of the exclusivity partnership will be. "Due to the necessities of multiplatform development and publishing, it is likely that such a partnership will not extend beyond exclusive downloadable content, or staggered release dates. An outright exclusive EA game on the Next Xbox would be unlikely, and certainly a major coup for Microsoft if such a deal were to be secured," the report said.
