Just a couple of days after Electronic Arts announced it has no games in development currently for Wii U, EA's senior software engineer and architect Bob Summerwill has taken to Twitter to slam Nintendo and its latest console Wii U .
"The WiiU is crap. Less powerful than an XBOX360," this was the first one of Summerwill's series of tweets where he went on to suggest that Nintendo should give up on hardware altogether. "Poor online/store. Weird tablet. Nintendo are walking dead at this point," he lambasts the console maker in a series of tweets in response to posts relating to EA's current lack of Wii U development. The tweets have since been deleted, however, they were captured by this NeoGAF thread .
"Nintendo are still operating like it's 1990," he continues suggesting that Nintendo should have quit the hardware business and focused on its Mario and Legend of Zelda franchises exclusives on either the PlayStation 4 or next Xbox. "Instead, they make this awful console. Just stop it! Just make great games!," he pleads.
Commenting on EA's withdrawal from developing games for Wii U, Summerwill sats, "It is an utterly intentional decision to focus our resources on markets which actually matter."
In a statement issued to Kotaku, an EA Sports spokesman said, "EA has a strong partnership and an active agreement with Nintendo to develop games for the WiiU. Last year we released Mass Effect 3 and several of our EA Sports titles on that platform. So far, we have not announced any new titles for Wii U this year, but that does not preclude more games in the future."
