The first official reveal for Battlefield 4 may have made sparks fly all over the fan forums with its jaw-dropping graphics and innovative gameplay, but that certainly doesn’t mean it will arrive on next-gen consoles. And early symptoms are pointing that way.
Battlefield 4, running on Frostbite 3, is still awaiting any kind of official confirmation if the game will eventually arrive on next generation consoles or not. To add more spice to it, on being asked if the game is heading over to the likes of PS4 or Xbox 720, on Twitter, the official page only stated: “We are only focusing on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 at this point. Thank you for asking.”
However, it could be pretty easily guessed that if EA DICE doesn’t approve Battlefield 4 for the next generation consoles, there could be a major dent in the company’s financial hopes. Moreover, the upcoming Call of Duty: Ghosts from Infinity Ward has already been approved for the future of gaming, and it would be unusual to see that same not happening for Battlefield 4.
There is also the chance that EA has decided to hold on to the confirmation for the time being, and may just be waiting for the upcoming E3 before making it official. Also, the developing team might have something greater in mind for the next generation.
As of now, Battlefield 4 is scheduled for a release on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 this fall.
