Sacramento Kings head coach Dave Joerger hasn’t exactly found the right antidote to get the club humming though a major revamp could make it easier on him. This is if team owner Vivek Ranadive supports it.
DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay have been the high profile players in trade talks and now Israeli Omri Casspi has been added to the mix. The 28-year-old’s name has surfaced recently seeing that he has struggled in Joerger’s new system, Bleacher Report reported.
It should be noted though that Casspi is coming off an injury that sidelined him during training camp and that he is currently working himself back into playing shape. But the trade rumors got spurred when his agent reportedly sat down with Kings management to discuss the role of his client, CSN reported.
While those talks don’t necessarily indicate a trade could be forthcoming, it is an unusual scenario this early in the season. For the record, Casspi has come out to say that there is no truth to the rumor that he is seeking a trade.
Casspi did have a good showing in the 2015-16 NBA season where he put up averages of 11.8 points and 5.9 rebounds. He is best known as one of the deadly shooters from the outside though none of that has shown thus far.
It is possible that Casspi’s agent is looking towards the 2017 NBA free agency where a lot of players will be seeking new deals. Obviously, if the Israeli is unable to get playing time to build his stock, such could be detrimental to his chances moving forward.
Right now the Kings are not looking so hot and Cousins, Gay and Casspi may possibly be headed the exit. That is unless some trades happen before February 2017 where the Kings are looking to at least get something out of these players bound to depart.
