The Apple Watch 2 launched in September 2016, and there are rumors that the Apple Watch Series 3 will arrive one year later. It is also possible that the Cupertino company may feature the Apple Watch 2S first in the first half of 2017, before unveiling the next model.
Apple Watch 3 Features Vs Apple Watch 2
Mobipicker stated that the Apple Watch 3 will most likely feature significant changes, compared to its predecessor. The next version may include a Magnetic Wristband, an innovative multifunctional strap that will also serve as a kickstand and protective case.
When not in use, the Magnetic Wristband of the Apple Watch 3 can be wrapped around the model's display to provide extra protection. The strap can also roll up behind the watch to function as a nightstand clock. The Apple Watch 3 is expected to arrive with new color and strap designs.
There are also talks that the Apple Watch 3 may come with rounded edges, similar to how some Android watches look at present. The Apple Watch 3 may come with a new FaceTime camera that allows video calls and selfies.
The Apple Watch 3 may also be controlled by gestures, have improved waterproofing, longer battery life, wireless charging and new health sensors. Apple is reportedly aiming to make the smartwatch as independent from the iPhone as possible.
Apple Watch 3 Price & Other Rumors
MacWorld revealed that the Apple Watch 3, which measures 38mm may cost around $465, while the 42mm model may cost about $502. This means that the third-generation is more expensive than the Apple Watch 2, which is currently priced at $369. The increase in price is most likely due to the new advanced features and huge changes in the new model.
There are rumors that in March 2017, Apple will offer new straps for the Apple Watch 2, as well as introduce the Apple Watch Series 2S, which will offer higher storage options. There may be 4GB and 8GB variants, although the front-facing camera will be saved for the Apple Watch 3.
