The North American release date and pre-order bonuses for Playstation Vita's first Killzone entry titled Killzone: Mercenary were announced on Sony's blog today.
Set to be released Sept 10, a week earlier than the original Sept 3 date, Killzone:Mercenary has players filling in the boots of former UCA-solider Arran Danner as he takes on paid contracts from the ISA as well as the Helghast. Killzone:Mercenary will revisit many events throughout the series and starts after after the ending to the original Killzone, released for Sony's Playstation 2 in 2004.
Players who pre-order the Guerrilla Cambridge developed title will receive "Blackjack's Briefcase," giving early adopters an edge in both single and multiplayer modes. A special access code will allow players to earn a double XP boost for 48-hours and start with enough Vektan cash to pick up a new weapon before playing.
Along with those bonuses, gamers who purchase Killzone: Mercenary at a U.S. GameStop will receive an exclusive gun for both single and multiplayer use through the M224-A1.
Guerrilla has been working overtime lately as it also prepares to release Killzone: Shadow Fall for Sony's upcoming Playstation 4. The developer released tech specs of Shadow Fall earlier this week and reveled some interesting insight its current engine.
According to Guerrilla, Killzone: Shadow Fall's demo showcased at Sony's Playstation 4 reveal only used 3GB of the system's 8GB and character models will have around four times of Killzone 3 with some 40,000 polygons. The demo also sported 8,200 physics objects, 500 particle systems, 60 AI characters and 120 sound voices.
Guerrilla's Michael Valient said that programing for the powerful upcoming console has been easy in a Youtube video a few days ago.
"We wanted something fancier and faster, but were pleasantly surprised with the PS4 performance," said Valient.
