Nintendo's NES Classic, the modern revival of the iconic NES console with 30 built-in old-school games, finally released last Friday, November 11 to much hype. Both, fortunately (for the company) and unfortunately (for a lot of old-school gamers), the mini console sold out far too quickly. It looks like a lot of people want to relive their childhoods.
Even notable names from the video gaming industry weren't able to get their own NES Classics at launch, reports GameSpot. People like Microsoft Studios' publishing GM Shannon Loftis and 343 head Dan Ayoub expressed their frustrations on Twitter about not being able to buy one, even on online shopping sites like Amazon. However, Nintendo did send Xbox head Phil Spencer his own NES Classic, as he posted on his Twitter.
The good news is, though, Nintendo is well aware of the high demand for the NES Classic. Since the holiday season is already coming up, it announced on its official Twitter account that it will have "a steady flow" of new units for Christmas. Hopefully, that means that they'll be restocking as early as the first or second week of December, but it's very likely that they won't make it to Black Friday.
The NES Classic is only $60 (which explains its very quick selling out), available on Amazon, GameStop, Best Buy, Target, and Walmart. It's stocked full of 30 classic NES games, including the original "Pac-Man," "Super Mario Bros.," "The Legend of Zelda," "Tecmo Bowl," and much more. In an article by Kotaku, it said that the games that come with the NES Classic stay true to their original design and experience, including the archaic difficulty.
