There is a lot of buzz over the recent announcement that Johnny Depp will play the evil Gennert Grindewald in "Fantastic Beasts 2". However, fans appear to be more curious about who will play the young Albus Dumbledore in the "Harry Potter" prequel films.
But is it possible that "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling already has her eye on an actor who could play the young Dumbledore? Who could play the wizard in "Fantastic Beasts 2"?
J.K. Rowling Confirms Young Albus Dumbledore Casting For 'Fantastic Beasts 2'?
No one knows Albus Dumbledore better than J.K. Rowling, since the author created the wizard for her "Harry Potter" novels. Naturally, fans turned to Rowling for her opinion on who should play Dumbledore in "Fantastic Beasts 2". Not surprisingly, the writer admitted she already has "a name" on who she wants to play young Dumbledore.
"I do have someone in mind, but I can't say it," J.K. Rowling told E! (via io9). The "Harry Potter" author shared that she will not reveal her choice until the actor actually lands the role of young Dumbledore in "Fantastic Beasts 2".
Who Does J.K. Rowling Want To Play Young Dumbledore In 'Fantastic Beasts 2'?
There are speculations that J.K. Rowling might be hoping to cast an actor who is already connected to the original Albus Dumbledore from the first two "Harry Potter" films. Some believe that former "Fringe" star Jared Harris would be the perfect fit for young Dumbledore in "Fantastic Beasts 2".
After all, he is the son of the late Richard Harris, who appeared in "The Philosopher's Stone" and "The Chamber of Secrets". Jared Harris certainly has the acting chops and looks to play Albus Dumbledore in "Fantastic Beasts 2". However, some think that he might be too old to play a younger wizard.
There is no word yet on when "Fantastic Beasts 2" will be released. The first film "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" will premiere on November 16.
