Rayman Legends, Ubisoft Montpellier's follow-up to Rayman Origins, contains both underwater worlds and stealth gameplay, according to the game's latest trailer. The game, which was originally meant to be a Wii U exclusive before being delayed and going multi-platform, features underwater environments that are housed in the "20,000 Lums Under the Sea" world, which sees Rayman and his friends diving under the water's surface, collecting goodies and avoiding dangers along the way.
This underwater world contains new enemies and obstacles like floating mines, scuba divers with guns and electrified projectiles (remember: water and electricity don't mix). New environments include sewers, underwater caves and what appear to be dark laboratories and underwater homes.
In addition, this world looks to contain lots of stealth gameplay thanks to the addition of dark shadows and bots that come equipped with vision cones. If Rayman and company stay in the vision cones, alarms blare and levels become a much more hostile place.
With this trailer also comes the reveal of bonuses exclusively for games purchased at GameStop. Players that pick up the game for Xbox 360 will receive a special Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell outfit for Rayman, which dresses Rayman up as Sam Fisher.
Those that purchase the game on PS3 receive Rayman's Edward Kenway outfit in honor of Assassin's Creed: Black Flag.
Finally, Nintendo Wii U owners will also receive an Assassin's Creed themed outfit, but this one is for Rayman's friend Barbara. With this outfit, Barbara takes on the look of Aveline De Grandpre from Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation.
"Rayman Legends retains the fantasy appeal of its predecessor while adding a multitude of clever and entertaining gaming modes, new characters, new environments and a new soundtrack," says Ubisoft in a statement. "The award-winning team of artists, designers and composers from Origins has also returned with an advanced UbiArt engine to include multi-dimension gameplay elements, an improved lighting system and updated game rendering that elevate Rayman's graphics to the next level."
Rayman Legends is set for release on Nintendo Wii U, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 on September 3. The game was originally scheduled to launch in November 2012 as a Wii U launch title, but was delayed to coincide with the release on PS3 and 360. The final game will feature additional content not originally scheduled for release to make up for the delays.
