Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure has been announced by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and 5TH Cell. As the name suggests, the game features full integration of the DC Comics universe, from locations to superheroes and villains.
In Scribblenauts Unmasked, players must help series hero Maxwell save the day from a variety of evil villains. Along the way, players will explore Gotham City, Metropolis and Atlantis, as well as other famous locations from the worlds of DC Comics like Batman and Superman. Of course, these locations would be nothing without their iconic characters, so Maxwell will quickly find himself surrounded by a slew of both heroes and villains.
Batman, Superman, The Justice League, Joker, Lex Luthor and Sinestro have already been revealed as some of the characters within the game, but dozens of other items and characters will be available in the final product.
"Scribblenauts Unmasked includes action-packed missions with fan favourite DC Comics Super Heroes adding to the players' puzzle solving experience as the beloved Maxwell," says Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President, Production and Development, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment in a statement. "Challenges in the game encourage broader player choices all set in well-known locations of the DC Comics universe, interacting in new and inventive ways with a wide range of popular DC Comics characters."
For the first time in Scribblenauts history, players will be challenged with randomly generating puzzles called "Heroic Feats," which change each time a player visits an area. Instead of memorizing a single solution, these Heroic Feats will keep players thinking of new ways to solve challenges each time they play the game.
In addition, a new Super Hero Creator will embrace players' imaginations, giving them the chance to create their own Super Hero or Super Villain using not only the game's basic dictionary of creatable items, but also items from the DC Comics universe. These creations can be shared and downloaded across the game's online community.
"Fans of both DC Comics and Scribblenauts can really let their imaginations run wild with the Super Hero Creator in Scribblenauts Unmasked," adds Jeremiah Slaczka, C.E.O. and Creative Director of 5TH Cell. "Players will be challenged to craft new and never-before-seen characters such as Wonder Joker or Bane Lantern and use them to solve puzzles or share them with friends."
Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure is set for release on Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, and PC sometime this fall.
