Google wants visitors to its annual developer-focused I/O conference in San Francisco today to “be inspired by the tech world’s latest web, mobile and social breakthrough to create simple, life-improving technologies and viable businesses among a rich and diverse community of cutting edge developers.”
How close will Google get to letting Google Glass out to consumers? Will the rumored Android update really turn out to be that big of an update? Can the next Nexus directly compete against the iPad mini and can the tentative Motorola X? With that in mind, here are the must see live streams for the three day conference.
Google I/O 2013 Keynote - May 15 at 9am PST
Expect the keynote address to set the tone of the entire conference. This is where the Google is probably going to give information on everything from Google Glass to the rumored Motorola X phone. Seeing that it’s signed deals with a few major record companies, maybe those rumors of a iTunes and Pandora killer will be announced. There’s even a rumor that Google will announce an Android equivalent to iOS’ Game Center, especially with Nvidia releasing new details on its Shield console.
Google Maps: Into the Future - May 15 at 12:45pm PST
Apple removing Google Maps from iOS 6 almost crippled the then seemingly perfect electronics giant's image and gave Android users a leg up when it came to standard issue turn-by-turn navigation. While mainstream press focuses on the obvious hardware announcements, Google Maps is rumored to be receiving a new facelift.
Level Up Your Android Game - May 15 at 5:30pm PST
Google Play will be the highlight. Maybe the rumored multiplayer functionality, leaderboards and achievements of Google Games will be explained.
Developing For Glass - May 16 at 10am PST
If anything extremely important isn’t said during the keynote address about Google Glass, then this is where more substantial information will come from. Now that development kits are out for the device, there are probably going to be some interesting apps ideas displayed.
