The second half of "Vikings" Season 4 will feature grown-up versions of Ragnar's sons as they face an impending battle to protect their home and loved ones. Latest spoiler news teased of Ivar the Boneless' transformation from a young man into a fierce Viking leader.
"Vikings" Season 4 is set to return to the small screens with a continuation of Ragnar's saga and his sons rise to power. In the midseason 4 finale of the hit History channel series, viewers witnessed a bloody battle, as well as Ragnar's (Travis Fimmel) disappearance from Kattegat. After the passage of several years, the Viking warrior returns home to find that that his sons have grown to resent him because of his absence and previous actions.
In "Vikings" Season 4B, Ragnar return to Kattegat will serve as a sign of bad things to come. His crippled son Ivar (Alex Hogh Andersen), who has harbored conflicting feelings of love and hate given Ragnar's absence, will soon play an important role in the History channel series.
Cast member Andersen shared in a video interview that Ivar has yet to fully grow up into a mature man. Posted on History channel's official YouTube account, the actor mentioned that Ivar will still long for his father's love and approval. However, Ragnar's return will mark the start of Ivar's journey to greatness given his father's mentoring.
Showrunner Michael Hirst also shared some interesting insights about Ivar's growth in "Vikings" Season 4B in the same video interview. Described as a clever young man, Ivar will soon display his impressive fighting skills, as well as his prowess on the battle field as a military strategist, according to the executive producer.
Meanwhile, Hirst also gushed over the upcoming new season during an earlier interview with TVLine. He teased of the series' "monumental" season that will tell the story of one the most formidable Viking warriors in history.
In other news, the upcoming midseason premiere of the History channel series will feature a power play between Ragnar and Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick). The first few episodes of "Vikings" Season 4B will also give viewers a glimpse of an interesting prophesy and Bjorn's (Alexander Ludwig) impending Mediterranean journey.
