With the ongoing demand for superhero related content seemingly translating from movies to television, TV networks are diving into the world of superheroes. CW, the network that was instrumental in bringing the "Detective Comics" (DC) universe to mainstream TV ordered additional episodes for "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2.
The show only has a few episodes on its slate, but the team had already undergone series of changes. From losing members of the original crew to bringing on new members for the time being, "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 has made a lot of tweaks and it seems to be for the better.
Speaking of changes, according to Variety, television network CW has ordered four additional episodes. Instead of getting the 20-episode order that most shows get, "Legends of Tomorrow" was only slated to get 13 episodes for its current run. These additional episodes not only will bring the show's episode total to 17 episodes but also assures White Canary, Atom and the rest of the time traveling gang to go on a few more adventures.
In addition to "Legends of Tomorrow," all the CW superhero shows have full season slates as "Arrow" and "The Flash" was initially renewed with full seasons (20+ episodes) and when "Supergirl" moved from CBS to CW, the network gave it 22 episodes for its second-season run.
The four-episode extension for "Legends of Tomorrow" can be attributed to the show's right direction. The show improved its ratings by 13 percent among adults ages 18-49 and 35 percent in total viewership on its time slot. It still places last on CW's Superhero block which includes shows such as "The Flash", "Arrow", and "Supergirl."
With that in mind, could this be the last season for the show? As of now there has been no confirmation from both CW and DC. However, fans are curious on how the added episodes will affect the show.
