Microsoft has continued to play second fiddle in the mainstream laptop game for several years. With a computer chip on their shoulder, Microsoft is looking to prove to the world that they can go head to head with the more popular Apple products on the market. This resurgence from Windows might just start with the release of the Microsoft Surface Book 2.
According to The Verge, Microsoft will keep everything that made the first Surface Book so well-received intact. The aesthetically pleasing design, the ease of access, the detachable screen, and all the other qualities that prove that the Surface Book can be that charming Windows laptop that entices the masses will end up remaining relatively the same. But what can consumers expect from the updated model going by the alias of Microsoft Surface Book 2?
If you were hoping for something sleek and attractive, with an upgraded build from the original Surface Book, the Microsoft Surface Book 2 may prove to disappoint. However, if you are looking for a machine that has a powerful engine and have no problem sacrificing some cosmetic and aesthetic value, then this could be the answer for you. As per Business Insider, the working updated model of the next Surface Book comes with an Intel i7 Processor, 16 GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA GTX graphical processing unit.
The Microsoft Surface Book 2 will be a more powerful beast than its predecessor to be sure, and some are even saying that it could perform even better than the newest line of upcoming MacBook Pros. In direct comparison to the new MacBook Pro, the new Microsoft Surface Book with performance base will have minor elements that the MacBook Pro will lack such as a dedicated SD card reader and a fully-functional touchscreen.
However, the biggest thing the Microsoft Surface Book 2 will have going for it is its raw power. Microsoft has promised that their latest Surface Book will have twice as much computing power than the 13-inch model of the new MacBook Pro. The new Surface Book also boasts 16 hours of battery life with a slight increase in weight. All in all, if you thought the original Surface Book was great, the next will be mostly the same but with a more powerful core and a heftier build and price tag.
