Since the casting days of the first movie of "50 Shades of Grey", fans of the book has been requesting Ian Somerhalder to play the part of Christian Grey. When Jamie Dornan was cast, the demand for Somerhalder didn't stop especially when Dornan had always been vocal about not entirely into the character of Grey and the fact that it has started to affect his marriage.
Now that "50 Shades Darker" is coming, the rumor of Somerhalder replacing him is rising again. In one of Dornan's recent interview on Jimmy Kimmel's late-night show, the actor finally reacts to the rumor and reveals that he doesn't know if he will be replaced or not. "That would be really hard for them to do, considering we shot both of the movies. That's an expensive mistake, I'll put it that way. But good luck to him---he'll be great!" he adds.
Dornan admits the filming of the second "Fifty Shades Darker" and third installment "Fifty Shades Freed" is already done. However, producers have decided to release the movie one year apart from the last making the fans more and more excited about the movie and the never ending hope that Ian Somerhalder will play Grey.
"Fifty Shades of Grey" was first published as a novel by E.L. James back in 2011. The books were such a big success that a movie adaptation was filmed in 2015. Both the book and the movie received negative reviews from critics but fans don't seem to care as both were a big success worldwide. E.L. James even released a new version of the book series entitled "Grey: Fifty Shades of Grey as Told by Christian".
The upcoming installment of the movie will feature a more powerful cast including Kim Basinger, Eric Johnson, Hugh Dancy and Bella Heathcote. There is no news yet whether the movie producers will also make a movie adaptation of the latest installment of the book series.
