Nintendo NES Release Date, News and Fixes: Cord Problem Can Be Solved by Third-Party Alternatives; Specs and Price Details

Many fans of the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) are excited for the release of the NES Classic Edition this month. Many, however, are concerned about the short cable that comes with the console.

Release date and cord problem

Set to be released this November 11, the Nintendo NES Classic Edition is expected to come with a cord that is 5 feet shorter than the original offering which came out in 1985. The cord of the original NES extended to more than 91 inches while the upcoming Classic Edition has a cord of about 30 inches only.

There are already players who are complaining of the Nintendo NES Classic Edition cable which is now way shorter than the original one because it would require them to stay closer to the television. There are available alternatives to address this concern but for an additional cost to the customers.

Alternatives

One popular solution is the Miniboss by Nyko which gives users a wireless controller that comes with a dongle. Its range can extend to 30 feet and can be purchased for $19.99. Another is MyArcade's GamePad Retro, a controller for the NES Classic Edition that has a cord which measures 10 feet. These third-party offerings hope to provide a solution the cord length problem of the NES Classic Edition.

Features and highlights

Aside from this concern, the NES Classic Edition is looking to be a promising console because of its palm-size and classic look. It also offers 30 built-in games, has an HDMI out and is USB powered. It will be sold for $60 when it is officially released.

However, it only comes with one controller. Purchasing another one would cost another $10 but some would prefer a wireless alternative than settling for the short cord of the NES Classic Edition. Are you excited for the coming of this console?
