Samsung Galaxy J5 owner has reportedly complained about an incident when the handset caught fire and exploded weeks ago in Pau, France. Lamya Bouyirdane, the Samsung Galaxy J5 owner claimed that the phone was too hot and even expanded as the smoke pours out. The self-combusting issue is the first ever reported case against the device that has hounded the Korean company for months.
Samsung Galaxy J5 owner Bouyirdane said in an interview that the phone was noticeably too hot to touch and that it had expanded while the smoke was pouring out. She further revealed that the device caught fire after being thrown on the ground, with the back part blowing right off. The owner claimed to have bought the phone from an online store in June, and plans to file charges against Samsung.
The reported Samsung Galaxy J5 explosion is yet to be determined if the issue is widespread or just limited to a single incident, or if the explosion could be related to another battery defect. Meantime, it should be noted that when Samsung Galaxy Note 7 batteries caught fire, Samsung immediately recalled even the company's washing machine products due to risk of likely injury, before completely stopping the selling of the exploding device.
Samsung Galaxy J5 issues are isolated only to that model, according to a Samsung spokesperson. However, the company refused to give further comments about the specific incident until they are able to gather and thoroughly examine the phone. The Korean manufacturer also assured the public that customer safety is still their highest priority, CNet reported.
Meanwhile, Samsung Galaxy J5 is finally getting an Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update, following its release in June last year with Lollipop 5.1 onboard. According to reports, the update is already being pushed in the Netherlands.
Samsung Galaxy J5 update will also bring new features and improvements, like the September Security Maintenance Release and the redesigned App Drawer. Other features include a useful Doze mode that can prolong the battery life of the phone and some improvements in stability, Phone Arena reported.
