Five Great Video Games That Depict the 'World War 1'

There have been loads of video games making history in the gaming industry such as "Battlefield 1" and more. What makes these games intertwine with each other is the manifesto that runs throughout the story: World War 1.

It isn't easy to create and develop a game that will help put World War 1 in context. Developers may have a hard time to create games that will depict war in a sensible manner. Game Informer has collected at least five great games that illustrate World War 1.

"Valiant Hearts" was released by Ubisoft in 2014 is a beautifully-illustrated puzzle adventure that portray the stories of actual people who lived in the course of World War 1. Its foundation was the letters sent by men and women who went through the cruelty of the war with a closer look at the human side of war. The game creates awareness and respect for survivors and victims of war's brutality. The game is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Blackmill Games released "Verdun" in 2015 and is an online first-person shooter game that re-enacts the remake of the Battle of Verdun by organizing players into squads led by non-commissioned officers who direct attacks and order mortar barrages and smokescreens. The game is available on PC, Mac, Linux and PlayStation 4.

In 2013, TGW 1918 Development Group released The Great War 1918 mod for "Company of Heroes" which is a total conversion for "Company of Heroes" modding in new vehicle models, soldiers, equipment, and an evolution of trees taking the game back to the final year of the First World War. The game is available on PC.

Another war-inspired game, "Rise of Flight", was released in 2013 by 777 Studios and is available on PC. It's a simulation-heavy multiplayer game offering players a break to take to the skies in some of these earliest fighter planes of World War 1.

Lastly, Victoria II was released by Paradox Development Studio in 2010. The game covers the period of 1836-1936, allowing the player to take over any nation on Earth and lead it politically and economically into the 20th century. The simulation is detailed in the 19th century societies, conflicts and politics.
