It has been a while since the iMac 2017 has given an update. A slip-up from Best Buy in the US showed an Apple PC powered by a Kaby Lake processor listed for sale. Apart from giving fans high hopes of seeing the Intel-based CPUs under the system of the upcoming iMacs, it seems like a potential refresh is about to come most probably in 2017.
Based on the report of Apple Insider, the Kaby Lake processors offers more than enough power to the iMac 2017 based on Speed Shift V2 technology of Intel. Also, a lot of tech analysts point the release of the Kaby Lake processors as the main reason why the release date of the new iMac has been delayed.
One of the highly-anticipated features of the upcoming iMac 2017 is the VR capability. Tech Radar reported that both Polaris 10 and 11 are able to offer a decent virtual reality experience, which are some of the components that Apple may likely include. The graphic chips from Polaris can provide faster speeds without consuming a lot of power unlike many other graphic chips available in the market.
According to MacWorld, ahe fusion drives may also be seen on the new iMac 2017 as the default storage. Other features that may be included are USB 3.1 and Thunderbolt 3.
Meanwhile, a document was spotted by Anandtech that shows a total of 11 quad-core processors slated in the first quarter of 2017. The lineup of the said processors includes three Core i7 processors, one Xeon E3 v6 chip, and seven Core i5 models.
iMac 2017 chips are expected to offer a much faster speed than the Skylake processors and are likely to be part of the iMac 2017. Though the chips provide a 200 MHz, which is a much higher base frequency than the Skylake, both turbo speeds and thermal design profile still remain unknown at the moment.
