The New York Giants was victorious over the Philadelphia Eagles (28-23) when the two teams clash at MetLife Stadium Sunday afternoon. However, Giants starter Victor Cruz left the game in the second quarter with a sprained ankle.
The initial reports on Victor Cruz's ankle injury were promising on Sunday night. But the New York Giants coach Ben McAdoo did not have much to say for an update. The receiver injured his ankle during a 45- yard catch in the second quarter. A few moments later, Victor Cruz was downgraded to questionable status going into the locker room for an X-ray.
During the halftime break, it was then revealed that the New York Giants made the decision of renegading Victor Cruz to the bench sitting out the rest of the game. On a post game video posted by the rest of the Giants on social media, the starting receiver appeared to have no sign of having a sprained ankle injury. He also posted a photo on social media Sunday night showing Cruz enjoying a birthday celebration at a Manhattan night club.
Reports indicated the injury sustained by Victor Cruz is confirmed to be a low ankle sprain which is supposed to be less damaging compared to a high ankle sprain. This information was taken from fellow Giant Odell Becham Jr, in a comment he made about the injury of his teammate.
Becham also was quoted saying that he expects Victor Cruz to play on their next game on Monday unless Cruz is diagnosed with a more severe type which is a high ankle sprain which could have Cruz sidelined for a bit of time.
Victor Cruz played 94 percent of the offensive snaps for the Giants in the initial seven games of the season. That dropped to just 68 percent before getting injured last Sunday. Roger Lewis and Dwayne Harris are expected to fill in for Victor's role which can expand the longer Cruz will be out of action.
