Sony has so far been tight-lipped about its next-generation PlayStation plans; however, GameStop promises an in-depth look at PlayStation 4 at its annual event scheduled for August 28 in Las Vegas.
The retailer announced that Sony's next PlayStation console will be on display at its annual event, GameStop Expo 2013. Attendees will get a chance to have a close look at the PS4 and its launch lineup. Attendees of the one-day event will get to go hands-on with upcoming games and meet with "top game developers," publishers, and unspecified special guests," Gamespot reports.
GameStop Expo 2013 will be held at the Sands Expo and Convention Center. Game enthusiasts can fetch early-bird tickets now at $35 which will go up to $45 after August 11. A limited number of VIP tickets are also on sale now for $90 ($100 after August 11). VIP admission includes early admittance to the show floor, a VIP lounge, a gaming tournament, and access to panel discussions featuring some of the biggest names in the industry, plus a swag bag of gaming goodies," GameStop says in a release.
Meanwhile, GameStop executive vice president Michael Hogan said that the PS4 is set for a global launch in 2013. "We know that Sony will introduce the PlayStation 4 globally in 2013, but we are still waiting to see what Microsoft's final plans are," Hogan said during a fourth quarter earnings call last week.
"Purchase interest for the new PlayStation 4 is very strong. In fact, across a wide range of products, including new smartphones, new tablets, laptops, et cetera, the PlayStation 4 is by far the top scoring item," Hogan was quoted as saying in a NBC News report.
