Details about the upcoming Nintendo Switch have been sparse, however, several reports have released a few interesting information about the device. Latest news about the console may even have revealed the gaming unit's selling price.
The Nintendo Switch, previously codenamed Nintendo NX, is expected to introduce several gaming innovations given its hybrid design. Described as a home gaming console and a portable handheld unit, Nintendo's upcoming device is perfect for avid gamers on the go.
With the gaming company's preview trailer that unveiled some of the Nintendo Switch's features, many players became curious over its specifications. Previous reports teased of the handheld device's capacitive multi-touch screen that features a 6.2 inch display with a 720p resolution. Other reports highlighted the right-hand JoyCon controller's IR sensor, while some fans hinted of a USB-C port.
At this time, it is still unclear if the Switch will include the said features. Nintendo has yet to release other details about the device apart from the information teased in its preview clip.
Meanwhile, many gamers have posted speculations of the said unit's price point. However, Nintendo's recent financial earnings conference call may have revealed a potential price range for the Switch. A transcript of the said call obtained by Forbes highlighted a statement made by Tatsumi Kimishima, the gaming company's president.
The Nintendo executive commented that it would release the Switch at a price point that will meet the "consumers' expectations for [Nintendo] products" but still pull in revenue for the company. Kimishima may not have disclosed the exact selling price but he hinted that it may follow a price point similar to other Nintendo home consoles but at a slightly higher rate.
Speculations posted on the same report indicated that the Nintendo Switch may be released with a price tag of around $299. Given the Wii's debut price of $250 and the Wii U's $300 price point, the upcoming device may likely fall under the said speculated price.
