Batman: Arkham Origins: New Details On The Weather System, Boss Battles And More

New details about Warner Bros. Montreal’s upcoming title Batman: Arkham Origins are starting to come out as we get closer to its release date and the latest detail boss battles, a dynamic weather system (and its impact on free-flowing combat) and the newest version of Deathstroke.

WB Montreal’s Ben Mattes recently ran down a number of interesting things about the game to GamesMaster. One of the major features he talks about is the way the weather will play a major role during combat.

The game is said to feature a dynamic weather system that was designed to affect freeflow combat: “The gusts of wind from the encroaching blizzard would force thugs to stand still and cover their eyes, but also make it difficult for players to control Batman,” Mattes tells GamesMaster.

Mattes says that the developer decided to go against it because it “sucks,” although there wasn’t any sign that the dynamic weather system had been removed altogether, but just the winds affecting this freeflow.

Aother idea cut dealt with a robotic drone that would hunt Batman during predator missions, as the developer decided that Batman should not be spending his time during the predator sections hiding.

“The Batman of Arkham City is Batman 5.0. He will punch out a guy without looking at him knowing exactly how many teeth he's just fractured just from the feeling from his knuckles. Our Batman is version 0.9,” Mattes stated. “We really believe that we've made the coolest version of Deathstroke [in any media]. He's a wonderful counterpart to Batman.”

Mattes also says every boss encounter will be different and that making the new Batman scarier than his predecessors was important.

“In later years Batman becomes very much part of the institution,” Mattes says referring to Arkham Asylum.

Batman: Arkham Origins is set for a 2013 release for the current generation consoles and PC.
