Brad Pitt Asks For Joint Custody Of Children After Divorce; Angelina Jolie's Dad Jon Voight Speaks Out

After Angelina Jolie's divorce petition, Brad Pitt fires back by filing for a joint custody of his children. Both Pitt and Jolie cited irreconcilable differences as the main reason for their divorce.

Jolie asked for sole physical custody of their six children including specific properties to be awarded to her while Brad Pitt signed his response by requesting for joint custody of their children. Despite Pitt and Jolie's opposing custody requests, an insider asserts that "both parents will resolve the issue between themselves privately."

Jolie filed for sole physical custody of their kids Shilloh, Maddox, Zaharah, Vivienne, Knox and Pax when she signed her documents last Sept. 19 to ensure their safety. This was after the alleged incident that happened in a private jet between Pitt and his 15 year old son Maddox.

"Something very serious must have happened for Angie to make a decision like this." Join Voight, Angelina Jolie's dad said in an interview with Inside Edition. Voight said it's a sad thing that happened to the family and prayers are in dire need at the moment.

The 77-year old said he didn't learn the news from Angelina Jolie but from his son. TMZ reported that the couples rift began over a conflict involving children.

Jolie and Pitt both agreed to a temporary custody deal recommended by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services which, means that for the next three weeks, Jolie gets full physical custody of the children while Pitt is only allowed several visits under a warning.

"I am concerned for Angie and the children and hopefully I will be seeing them very soon." Voight added. News confirmed that Pitt had two supervised visits with his five youngest children and his first supervised visit with Maddox on Oct. 19.
