Despite the fact that it would be a great opportunity to present more information for some of their upcoming titles, 2K Games will be watching the homefront this year, opting not to have a booth at this year's E3. The move follows Nintendo's recent announcement that they will not be holding their traditional large-scale press conference at the annual event but will instead have their games on the show floor and behind closed doors.
They'll still be providing information to fans, but they'll be doing it via their YouTube and Twitch channels instead. The company informed fans of much via a post on their blog, though they didn't explain the reason for the absence:
"At 2K, we're excited for the new opportunities coming with the next generation of hardware, and are hard at work preparing our announced titles for release. While 2K will not have a booth on the show floor at this year's E3 conference, we will have a lot of great news coming your way this spring. Our slate of titles coming this year include highly anticipated games like Sid Meier's Civilization V: Brave New World, XCOM: Enemy Unknown for iOS, more content for Borderlands 2, as well as WWE 2K14 and NBA 2K14. Stay tuned for our live gameplay and event broadcasts to see the latest gameplay from our upcoming titles. Subscribe to our Twitch channel at twitch.tv/2K and on YouTube at youtube.com/2Kgames."
As a subsidary of Grand Theft Auto publisher Take Two, who will only have meeting rooms at E3, and following Rockstar's usual tradition of just not showing up, it looks like patrons at this year's show may not get a look at the next car-jacking chapter until either company says so.
