Almost every PlayStation 4 game is getting patched in anticipation of the new PlayStation 4 Pro releasing next week. You can add the current-gen "Infamous" games, "Infamous: Second Son" and "Infamous: First Light" to the list of PS4 titles getting visual updates to look optimized on the new console.
Developer Sucker Punch just put out new patches for both "Infamous" games, with "Infamous: Second Son" requiring 3.6 GB for its patch and DLC "Infamous: First Light" needing 2.5 GB. They come with increased capabilities for HDR, which Sony has enabled on the PS4 in a September update, and 4K video resolution on 4K TVs. Destructoid notes that PS4 players don't exactly need a PS4 Pro to see the improvements, which include more vivid lighting and color when you enable HDR, as seen on these Reddit screenshots. But if you don't have an HD TV that supports either HDR or 4K, the new updates will be a waste of bandwidth and hard drive space.
But in addition to the technical upgrades Sucker Punch has made to "Infamous," "Infamous: Second Son" and "Infamous: First Light," they also added a bunch of little effects that the consoles are capable of doing now. According to its post on the official PlayStation blog, it really worked on little details in the games' depiction of Seattle. Everything in the game environment is completely rendered and rendered beautifully. On top of that, the abilities of the main characters have been turned up graphically, making them look really good.
The new patch for both "Infamous" games is now available. Just remember that the updates have a total of over 6 GB, and make sure that your setup will actually benefit from applying the patch. The PlayStation 4 Pro is dropping everywhere next week, November 10, and is designed to run side-by-side with the original PlayStation 4.
