Although Google exerted its utmost effort to provide to the consumers the best artificial intelligence app feature, several performance glitches and limitations of Google Assistant have rendered its users confused and exasperated.
Google brought the universal helper to the tech market with its new Google Home tabletop gadget, its A.I.-enhanced Google Allo chat app, and its new Pixel flagship phone. Minor yet maddening setbacks from the performance of Google Assistant, however, lead the consumers and the tech community alike to call for a better quality of service from Google Assistant through a clearer and more precise software design.
According to Computer World, the problem with Google Assistant is its multiple personalities. Designed to respond to the needs of its varied users, this similar feature also set Google Assistant into a disadvantaged position as it apparently experiences confusion over what it can actually do and how it can specifically help its users.
The media outlet further pointed out that Google Assistant does not perform similar services across all its varied examples. There are some features that work on one platform that do not work on another.
An example of which, as further reported, is when users command Google Assistant to open an specific app. Using Pixel and telling the Assistant to "Open Chrome," the Chrome browser will immediately open. Through Allo, however, the universal helper would be confused over the command and would provide user with Google search results instead of opening the said app.
This is just one example of the several glitches in the performance of Google Assistant. As per Skift, the universal helper also possessess limitations and, thus, users should not expect much from the services provided by Google Assistant especially on consumer travel. While it can provide flight schedules and answer hotel queries, Google Assistant cannot access users' Gmail account to aid in a more precise booking activity.
Whereas the tech giant pits Google Assistant against Apple's Siri as a smarter and a more useful A.I service provider, it still has some lapses to fix. Stay tuned!
