Android might be the world's most popular mobile platform but it appears that millions of Android users often have to wait longer to get some big-name applications than users of other platforms, like iOS.
Vine, a 6-second video sharing service, proved to be a great app and was an instant hit among iOS users. But it seems the service lagged in tapping the large Android audience. Now, the developers behind Vine promise that an Android version of the app can be expected soon.
It was reported back in February that the Vine team was recruiting extra staff to develop an Android version of the app and, in a talk with The Verge, the creators of the app promise that an Android app is coming soon.
Vine, a video equivalent of Instagram, allows users to film brief video clips (6 seconds long), pausing the video during recording as many times as one would like. These videos can be easily uploaded to Twitter or Facebook, which has become a social-media way of sharing an event or giving a short peek into one's daily life. The comedian Will Sasso continues to be the best thing on Vine, particularly his lemon expelling videos. Watch one below.
The popularity of this app is so evident that some companies choose to release teaser videos of their products or announcements on Vine rather than through YouTube, which is also so ubiquitous now. Vine will introduce a new feature on iOS, after it gets the Apple approval, whereby users will be able to tag friends in the video.
