If you're getting a PlayStation 4 Pro when it drops next week and you're waiting for all your games to finally get compaible with it, here's one game you don't have to worry about. "Ratchet & Clank" is getting a free patch in order for the game to look its best in an ultra high-resolution 4K video.
The new patch for "Ratchet & Clank" should be dropping soon before the console launches on November 10, reports GameSpot. The kicker here actually is that you don't need to own a PlayStation 4 Pro at all to see the improvements, it seems. If you have a 4K TV, you'll immediately see the visual changes and this will be the same for HDR TVs and even basic 1080p sets. The developer Insomniac already enables HDR for this patch and Sony already allows the regular PS4 and PS4 Slim to run games on HDR mode in a patch last September.
PS4 Pro games aren't yet running in native 4K resolution and all of them will be upscaling to the resolution for a few more years until developers get it down. "Ratchet & Clank" is just one of the few games that will get an update for the new console, which is designed to sit alongside your regular PlayStation 4. It was also reported that the complete list of games getting a PlayStation 4 Pro, includes "Fallout 4," "NBA 2K17" and "Titanfall 2."
If you're planning to get a PlayStation 4 Pro on launch day next week, it will run you $399. It seems to be a decent investment, as it's designed to not replace your existing PlayStation 4 if you already have one. Until now it's still not clear how the PS4 Pro is designed to complement the existing console, but the answer will be known soon enough after more people get it and find out for themselves. For the meantime, enjoy the "Ratchet & Clank" video below.
