The next Splinter Cell game from Ubisoft – Splinter Cell: Blacklist – is just round the corner, and with a few months to go before the game makes its final appearance, Ubisoft now says that the title will also be available for Nintendo's Wii U.
The company also released a new trailer announcing the game, alongside screenshots showcasing the Wii U Gamepad, how to use it in the game and the official box art.
“Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Blacklist on Wii U will deliver a unique gaming experience that puts players in the role of special operative and 4th Echelon leader, Sam Fisher,” the official page says. “Showcasing enhanced gameplay features using the Wii U GamePad controller, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Blacklist allows players to operate innovative gadgets, execute Killing in Motion efficiently to take out enemies and move through the environment, and intuitively switch between weapons, among other features.”
The new game will make full use of the Wii U GamePad, although it is unclear if the game will support Off-TV play. The GamePad touch screen, along with motion-based inputs, will hopefully offer some unique gameplay.
Splinter Cell: Blacklist will see the return of Sam Fisher, as he leads the newly formed Fourth Echelon on a mission to stop a new terror threat called The Blacklist from destroying the country. The game is set for an Aug. 20 release for Xbox 360, PC, PS3 and Wii U.
