Fans have been clamoring for the return of "True Detective" Season 3; unfortunately, HBO hasn't confirmed anything about it. The network often expresses its interest to renew the show, but its director Cary Fukunaga revealed that he has no interest to direct the new chapter if it indeed happens.
Cary Fukunaga has been known for his directorial stint in "True Detective" Season 1. In fact, the first installment became a hit, critically acclaimed and world renowned. However, the show's second season received poor ratings and negative reviews. Is this the reason why the "Jane Eyre" director will not return for "True Detective" Season 3?
"I had only signed on to do the first season because I wanted to do a long format, wanted to experiment with that genre. But I don't see myself going back to 'True Detective' anytime soon," he explained. Business Standard News revealed that Cary Fukunaga is only up to do the first installment and he did what he could for the genre.
"I feel like I have done the noir. There is no noir currently in my slate so if I ever get that itch again, may be. But not for now," he added. Hence, there is still a little chance that Cary Fukunaga might return to direct "Fargo" Season 3.
"True Detective" has been known for being the best crime drama TV series HBO has to offer. Some deem that the last installment's inadequate performance greatly affect the coming of "True Detective" Season 3.
With that, a lot wonders if "True Detective" Season 3 will still be seen on small screens. It was recently reported that "True Detective" helped Matthew McConaughey's career to rise up again along with Cary Fukunaga to be known.
"True Detective" became Nic Pizzolatto's finest work and after a year that the last installment concluded, many believed that this is the best time to have "True Detective" Season 3. Although HBO hasn't confirmed anything yet, it openly shared that it is still looking forward to make "True Detective" Season 3.
