The Samsung Galaxy S8 is reportedly set to feature 99 percent screen. The handset is speculated to include a fingerprint sensor in the display. Moreover, the Ultrasonic Sense ID scanner spotted in the Xiaomi Mi 5s is also rumored to be included in the next Samsung handset.
Recent reports reveal that Samsung Engineer for the Display Manufacturing Unit Park Won-sang allegedly noted that the display of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 will boast over 90 percent screen space, CNET reported. It should be noted that the average display area ratio of the display in current smartphones is around 80 percent. If true, the S8 may boast at least 10 percent more screen than its predecessors.
However, reports claim that Samsung will not stop at 90 percent. Won-sang allegedly noted that the giant tech company is aiming for a device that is at least up to 99 percent screen. Recently, smartphone manufacturers have been developing a phone with an edgeless display like the recent Xiaomi Mi Mix.
It is further speculated that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will feature an OLED display with a bezelless body. In addition to the full-screen display, Samsung may get rid of the home button entirely. It is believed that a fingerprint sensor would replace the home button under the display.
Meanwhile, Samsung is expected to reveal the Samsung Galaxy S8 on February 2017 to coincide with the Mobile World Congress event. The handset is believed to sport a 4K resolution screen and a USB-C audio to replace the 3.5mm headphone jack. The device will reportedly run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 with Exynos 8895, 6GB RAM and a dual lens camera.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 is also believed to include Qualcomm's ultrasonic Sense ID scanner, Android Authority reported. The said technology has already been integrated with the Xiaomi Mi 5s and 5s Plus. If true, the Galaxy S8 may be the first device to feature the security feature.
